The eldest suggested pizza and a David Tennant Doctor Who marathon last night.
He had me at David Tennant.
However, there were a few obstacles in our way.
I’m old school, so we had to dust off the DVD player and discovered it didn’t work any more.
Luckily I bought a replacement about four years ago just in case DVD players went the way of beta machines.
I dug it out of the cupboard, cracked the seal on the box and we were sorted.
Well, aside from the fact I couldn’t find the boxed set of the first David Tennant season as Doctor Who among the hundreds of DVDs I own and never watch.
It was eventually located … missing disc 3 … and we were in business.
Settling in front of the tellie together swept me back to the pandemic when the kids got so bored in their rooms that they’d occasionally emerge to do stuff with me.
Happy times.
Actually, I look back on the lockdowns with a weird nostalgia. They were simpler, slower times, when going for a bushwalk or clambering around a coastal headland felt like such a treat.
There are very few bushwalks or coastal headlands in my life these days.
I even overheard some of my young colleagues at work this week reminiscing about how much more connected to nature – and their families – they were during COVID.
Didn’t see that coming.
Anyways, back to Doctor Who. David Tennant was 34 when he started filming the series and he was so beautiful.
I was transfixed by his perfect cheekbones and cute sprinkling of freckles. Swoon.
However, the marathon only lasted three episodes because I was lacking stamina after waking at 5.30am in the morning.
But we have promised to have another Doctor Who marathon night together soon.
The series holds a special place in our hearts – we would watch it together as a family each week.
Even after my husband and I separated, we’d all reunite on the sofa for dinner and Doctor Who.
It’s so lovely that the eldest is back under my roof for a few weeks.
I miss my family, it’s great to have one of them home.
Song of the day: David Tennant “500 miles”
okay, sure I love Tennant, but Eccleston too…..I always thought Tennant was a natural James Bond, but he’s even better as the evil guy like in Jessica Jones
We usually watch all the Christmas Doc Who specials, and yeah, maybe because of Kylie Minogue…but I’m thinking a Torchwood marathon (I have everything on DVD, cause I’m oldschool!)
