Do you empathise?

Sometimes I wonder if HouseWhine would be a better name for HouseGoesHome.

I seem to do a lot of moaning and complaining these days.

Sorry about that.

I am hoping the middle-aged readers among you can empathise with some of the whining.

I stand by that meme I shared yesterday …

Yesterday was also pretty huge. I woke at 5.30am, walked the dogs and raced into the city to run the corporate communications at a visitor economy forum.

There were lots of presentations to digest and squeeze into a trade media release, plus photos to sort through and LinkedIn posts to write.

I don’t function well in the dark these days and the ballroom was very dim. Also, my laptop only stays charged for about one hour max … cue lots of sitting in corners plugged into power points. Not the best position for my ageing hips.

But it’s good to feel valued, which was definitely not the case for many years before I accepted my current role.

Geez there were some nasty people.

Anyways, BAU didn’t take the day off during the forum, so I was also frantically sorting out website updates as well.

And then there was a life drama, with my bank texting to say it had cut off access to my account due to me not verifying my ID. I was outraged as I had definitely verified it. I sat on hold for 20 minutes before someone finally answered – they asked if there were any co-signatories on any of my accounts.

Ah. That would be my ex husband. I still share one account with him that we pour money into for our children’s endless medical expenses.

I’ve asked him to sort it out and I am hoping it doesn’t take him as long to verify his ID as it did to sign the divorce papers as the bank has only given me a two-week extension.

I also multi-tasked while taking the dogs for their afternoon wee, searching commercial properties for sale on the Northern Beaches. I really think Newport could do with a boutique hotel. I just need a wealthy backer …

Then I went out to dinner with a friend before climbing wearily into bed.

My eyes sprang open again at 5.30am this morning as my brain started whirring through all the urgent tasks that need to be completed at work before 10am.

Better run …

PS I forgot to tell you my Cairns to Bali travel story is live on The Thirsty Travellers, read it here. Let me know if you spot any mistakes as it was written on the run.
