Lounge lizards

I am feeling very blissed out and fortunate to be cruising to Indonesia with DD.

It’s another no-solo-supplement special aboard Ponant, which means we have two cabins for the price of one. The partition has been removed between our balconies, providing a spacious outdoor area to lounge on together, and separate bedrooms to ensure a good night’s sleep. Bliss.

The cruise departed from Cairns on Tuesday and our first stop was Lizard Island.

Such a lovely day.

In the morning we walked across the island to a gorgeous spot called Blue Lagoon for a swim.

This is an official Queensland Tourism photo of Lizard Island …

This is an unofficial photo of me splashing in the waves at Blue Lagoon in my whale shark onesie …

And this is a photo of DD enjoying a dip … he’s the one waving …

The ship’s doctor joined us for some shore time, but I think she’s feeling a little redundant because there are 40 doctors on the boat.

No joke.

We’ve stumbled upon some sort of medical convention at sea, so the conversations at meal time tend to be fairly intense.

But back to Lizard Island …

After a walk and swim at Blue Lagoon we returned to the ship for lunch, then spent the afternoon snorkelling in the clam garden at Watsons Bay.

The colours weren’t technicolor but the coral was lush and healthy and wonderful. I had a bulk fun time paddling around gawping at the underwater magic.

In the evening we watched the sun set with a glass of bubbles in hand before heading to a gala dinner, which featured luscious lobster and beef courses, with a strawberry and pistachio gelato dessert to finish.

Fabulous day, ten out of ten.

Gotta go, there’s a stretch class starting in the theatre …
