Staying strong

I wonder how it feels to live in the United States and be leaning to the left?

I am conscious that I have contorted my social media algorithm so I get all of the bad news and none of the good.

As a result, I am too well versed in the bad and feel a little terrified by it.

Although something very funny landed in my newsfeed last night that made me giggle:

Go Brenda!

I love that people are using humour as their weapon.

I hate that the National Guard is being deployed because the city is being misrepresented as “war ravaged”.

But the memes are hilarious …

The state of Oregon and the city of Portland are begging to differ on the ‘war ravaged” assessment and are suing to try and stop the troops.

“When the president and I spoke yesterday, I told him in plain language that there is no insurrection or threat to public safety that necessitates military intervention in Portland or any other city in our state,” Democratic Gov. Tina Kotek said in a news release on Sunday.

“Despite this — and all evidence to the contrary — he has chosen to disregard Oregonians’ safety and ability to govern ourselves. This is not necessary. And it is unlawful. And it will make Oregonians less safe.”

Stay strong Portland.

Song of the day: Elton John “Your song (it’s a little bit funny)”
