Totally unfiltered

I have a robust constitution. I can talk about just about anything, anytime to anybody. And very little, other than the Bass Strait and divorce, puts me off my food.

Sometimes I forget other people aren’t quite as hardy.

I was at dinner at a French bistro in Avalon last night with some of DD’s friends and I have no idea how it came up in idle conversation, but the woman across the table from me mentioned she had twin fibroids and I delightedly showed her an ultraound picture of mine, Freddie.

Then I regaled her with all the methods I’d tried to mitigate Freddie in my efforts to avoid a hysterectomy,

She was contemplating getting a hysterectomy and I said I wanted to know how your vagina stays in position when it’s no longer attached to your cervix and uterus.

I think they stitch it into place or something, must Google.

As the conversation continued, and I pondered the big questions like whether you’d get your cervix removed as well as your uterus, the colour started draining from her face and she had to excuse herself from the table because she thought she was going to faint.

Oooops.

You really can’t take me anywhere.

It kept me awake for a few hours last night, fretting over how you can’t take me anywhere without me being completely unfiltered among friends or strangers.

The blog is a little late this morning due to the aforementioned French dinner – Steak frites with bernaise sauce … nom, nom!

DD had a 7am call – which is still going in the background as I type this – so I headed up to Avalon headland on my own to watch the sunrise.

There wasn’t a single ray of colour due to the cloud cover, but a whale was having a whale of a time out to sea, leaping and splashing, so it wasn’t a totally wasted journey.

I also enjoyed watching a parade of about 30 middle-aged people walking along the edge of Avalon ocean pool then leaping into the icy waves. That would get your morning off to a vibrant start!

On my way home I picked up some bagels and olive sourdough from Bonfire Bread, then swung past The Woods to get DD a strong flat white and shoot the breeze with his mate Lettsy, who was caffeinating there.

I love my little Northern Beaches life vignettes.

Now it’s on with the working day.

Have a great weekend
