I started my reporting career 40 years ago at the Newcastle Herald and today I’m off to a very different kind of reporting event.
Its called the Australian Seminar on Reporting and it has the theme of ‘Moving Forward into a New Era – The Pace of Change is Accelerating’.
Sounds pretty sexy, huh?
But it’s a conference focused on how to produce better annual reports.
So not very stirring, unless corporate governance turns you on.
However, I’m excited to go as I have been tasked with editing the annual report at my workplace and I want to learn how to do it well.
There was a lot of guesswork while editing last year’s annual report and I want to do better this year.
Sessions include: Practical Advice on How to Achieve Excellence in Reporting, Adapting to Evolving Sustainability Disclosure Standards, AI in Annual Reporting and PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad’s strategy to adapt to changing consumer trends and the evolving energy market.
It’s a long way from reporting on cock fights and king hits while rostered on the weekend cadet round at the Newcastle Herald.
Anyways, that’s my long winded way of telling you I’m signing off early this week, but I will be back with … lots to report!
Catch you next week.
PS The main pic is me with a poodle perm on a cadet field trip to Williamtown.

PPS My sister sent me this meme and I now need a Bex and a lie down to recover from the shock.
