Switching off

Best holiday wishes to you, whether you are celebrating Christmas, just taking a few days off or working straight through … hopefully there’s some fun for you along the way.

I’ve finally finished work – yesterday was an absolute shocker, but I won’t bore you with the stressful details … other than to say it included sunburn, stress, many agitated phone calls, an interpreter, a photographer and a honeymooning South Korean couple at the Sydney Opera House.

I am now officially on leave until January 6.

This morning I’m visiting my occasional beautician, Viviana, for an eyelash tint and brow shape to ensure I’m looking presentable in family photos and selfies.

Then there’s a pre-Christmas brunch and a bit of last-minute faffing around, a glass of bubbles with the family and a quiet night with the poorly youngest – I might try and convince her to watch Elf with me.

This is probably my last blog post for 2024.

I haven’t decided how many days to give myself off from HouseGoesHome, but I reckon it could be about a week, unless I miss blogging too much or have too many tales that simply must be told.

If I decide to keep my laptop shut through to early January, have a happy New Year!

Thank you for sticking with HouseGoesHome, even when the Facebook algorithm made it hard by not showing you my blog posts.

What a year it’s been, huh?

I am sure everyone has tales to tell of challenges and triumphs. I blurt mine out on a daily basis, while others are more circumspect.

Let’s hope 2025 holds more ups than downs for us all.

Song of the day: ABBA “Happy new year”
