I went to my office Christmas party last night and had a fabulous time. The gorgeous woman on my left is my co-worker Alyse.
The theme for the party was decades or eras or something, I’m not entirely sure, but our team decided on the 1950s.
I was all sorted because I’d purchased a poodle skirt costume for an Elvis gig I went to last year.
It was a bit disconcerting when I told younger members of the team what I was planning to wear and they said they didn’t know what a poodle skirt was … It’s a skirt … with a poodle on it!
I decided to skip the beehive flip wig that I wore to the Elvis gig, as I am worried it makes me look like John Travolta in Hairspray …
I’m not kidding – here is the proof …

Anyhoo, it was a fun party. I love that I’ve been in my workplace for so long that I know and can happily chitter chatter with everyone from the CEO to the data team.
I work with such a nice crew.

And I loved the view from the party’s balcony …

I also find it very entertaining that the music of my youth is so enduring. It was the party’s soundtrack – as I left Hall & Oates were playing at full blast.
Confession: I hated Hall & Oates when I was a teen, but I am oddly fond of them now, so I bopped my way out the door as a headed home to let the dogs out for a wee.
The plan at the beginning of the evening had been to ditch the poodle outfit and wear my normal clothes home, but I couldn’t be bothered and caught the bus in full 50s attire.
Then I walked the dogs in full 50s attire, before finally shedding the polyester and heading to bed.
Oh, how I wish I possessed the power to sleep in. Despite it being a late night, my eyes sprung open at 5.32am.
And they stayed open as I fretted over every word that had come out of my mouth at the party.
Hello overthinking, my old friend.
Song of the day: Hall & Oates “You make my dreams come true”
