Happy Monday! How was your weekend?
You will not be the least bit surprised to hear that I overdid things and need another weekend to recover.
Let me start with Friday, which was EPIC. I went on a work excursion to Western Sydney Airport … impressive, even though there’s just a runway and the skeleton of the terminal at this stage.

The airport will open in 2026 and initially cater to 10 million passengers. Eventually there will be a town nearby the size of Darwin. Blimey.
The tour guide also talking about how big the whole precinct will be by 2050, which was a bit unsettling for those of us on the tour over 50 as we will be VERY old in 2050, possibly deceased.
I worked in the office before and after the tour, then I bolted home to let the dogs out for a wee and get ready to have dinner with the team that was instrumental in getting my friend Kath released from jail.

It was a very emotional and unforgettable night, where I got to meet many of the incredible people who went above and beyond to help Kath.
I’m still pinching myself that I was lucky enough to be invited.
But it was past midnight by the time my head finally touched my pillow, which is way past my bedtime.

I blearily struggled out of bed on Saturday for a walk and brekkie with my ‘saving lives’ friends before one of them jetted off to Europe for a white Christmas.
Afterwards I ducked to the shops for a little frantic Christmas shopping with the hordes.

In the arvo I made my way north for a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at the home of American friends. They fed about 40 people and the whole spread was homemade, other than the bread rolls, which were imported from the US.
American bread is scary like that. It is so full of sugar and preservatives that it has a half life of 500 years.
The food was incredible: turkey, pulled ham, mashed potato, mac and cheese, creamed beans, mashed pumpkin with pecan topping, mashed sweet potato with marshmallow topping, shredded brussel sprout salad with bacon, roast asparagus … etc. And then there was dessert table. It was epic.
There were even fresh cranberries bobbing in my champagne.
Then we took our food babies home, bathed them in reflux and put them to bed.

Next morning I hurtled up to Newie to see my mum and dad. Mum took me to Valentine Bowling Club for oysters and barramundi for lunch.
Yum. And a stunning view, followed by a trip to Bing Lee for my Christmas present.
Then I drove back to DD’s – which took forever due to a crash at Mooney Mooney – to collect the dogs. I decided to hang around for suburban Chinese takeaway and music videos while I put together my Christmas photo albums.
Damn I’m tired this morning. And this week will be even busier than last week.
The quality of my blog posts may be impaired.
