You know how I hosted the body corporate meeting at my place last night?
Well, I may have implied I was willing to become the body corporate secretary.
I do not have time to be the body corporate secretary and it is beyond me why one of the retiree residents can’t take it on.
The offer was partly made because I’m a people pleaser and partly because I find inaction infuriating,
Last night’s meeting was a bit of a fizzer because the current secretary was confused and hadn’t designated it as a formal gathering, so official minutes weren’t taken, the discussion went round in circles and no progress was made.
Progress needs to be made.
The block’s criminal tenant – who my friend has suggested that I give a second chance – has appeared in court again over a separate matter and is still driving the neighbours mad by chain-smoking cigarettes and weed on his balcony near their bedroom window.
Everyone is too scared to say anything to him because he’s been so aggressive in the past.
We are in general agreement that we want to ban smoking of any kind in the building, but can’t seem to commit to a course of action.
One owner is concerned about the legal fees involved in changing the bylaws, another is worried about it affecting Frank the nicotine addict downstairs who coughs up a lung every night.
Meanwhile the young bloke getting smoke in his bedroom window sat there looking desolate at the realisation nothing is being done any time soon.
Join the club, mate. My ceiling is still a mess following the crack in the roof finally being repaired, months after a poll was taken about whether to fix it.
I opened a bottle of pinot noir for the meeting, ostensibly to offer around but mainly to fortify myself prior to the proceedings.

It was unexpectedly delicious! I am not normally a pinot fan, but I thoroughly recommend this one. It’s from a French-Australian wine brand called Marchand & Burch and hails from the Great Southern region in Western Australia.
The label was born from a friendship between Burgundian winemaker Pascal Marchand and Jeff Burch, owner of Western Australian winery Howard Park Wines. After bonding over their shared passion for Pinot Noir, the two vignerons began exchanging knowledge and techniques from their respective regions, which laid the foundation for the launch of the wine collection.
I’m a fan.
I also made a nice guacamole, if I do say so myself, which most people didn’t touch, but the eldest happily tucked into when the committee finally departed.
Thank heavens it’s almost the weekend.
Not that there will be much rest for the wicked.
I have a day filled with hair and beauty faffing on Saturday, followed by hours of travel to have lunch with the youngest on Sunday, as I’ve literally spent less than two hours with her in the last two months.
I hope you have some fun stuff planned. catch you next week.
Song of the day: Garbage “Shut your mouth”
Oh this brought back memories of my first Body Corporate meeting with PL. Where I had instructed him NOT TO VOLUNTEER. By the time we returned to our flat he was the Secretary 😩😂 They are lucky to have you x
I will not be very good at it
