Hello! I’ve been a bit quiet due to finishing my next book while battling jetlag.
I have been feeling too blurry and exhausted to do much else. I can’t believe it’s been a week and I still can’t sleep properly. Plane travel is the pits.
I woke around 5am this morning after having my best night’s sleep since I got back – hopefully I’ve broken the back of it.
Speaking of plane travel, a colleague sent me a photo over the weekend from an airport, where his partner was buying my Sydney Cocktails book.
He didn’t realise I’d written a book, so was very surprised when his girlfriend wandered up to him with a copy of it in her hand and said she fancied it.

So that’s a seventh copy sold … added to the three my mum bought and the two my friends Emily and Helen kindly purchased.

Despite the many weekends I’ve lost to writing the second book – and still a few to come – I’ve had an exciting idea for a third one.
I am seriously thinking about pitching it to the publishing company. My sister and DD think I’m totally mad.
But it’s SUCH a good idea. On the other hand, I do miss having free time.
The other thing I’m contemplating is a pair of linen pants. I am a bit obsessive when it comes to clothing items and spend hours online researching them. Currently I’m feeling my summer wardrobe would be completed by a pair of naturally-hued linen pants.
DD was horrified when I showed him one possibility. He thinks they look like they have elephant feet at the end of them. I’m worried that I’ll look like I AM an elephant in them. But I love the shirred waistband and relaxed fit.

The agony of indecision … coupled with embarrassment over how many clothes I already have. I culled a huge chunk of my wardrobe over the weekend and there were so many impulse buys from the past few years that I turfed. I’ve been a bit wanton since downsizing, after years of frugalness.
I felt ashamed of my wastefulness. I have no interest in designer gear … other than having a long love affair with Marc by Marc Jacobs in my younger years … but I absolutely adore clothes and get such a buzz from creating outfits and capsule wardrobes.
Anyhoo, that’s about exciting as things have been in Alanaland lately. Although, I do have two nights out in my calendar this week. Stay tuned for the post-event blather.
I really need to win the lottery I’m not entered into so I can semi-retire and focus on passion projects. Especially if the Premier follows through with his edict to end hybrid working. Yeah, nah, the dogs wouldn’t cope and neither would I.
What have you been up to? Have I missed anything?
Song of the day: The Clash “Should I stay or should I go?”
what on earth is a ‘capsule wardrobe’?
