Last night under promised and over delivered big time.
I was invited to the launch of G Flip’s new alcoholic juice range – Box – at a scruffy pub in Chippendale called the Lord Gladstone.
I belatedly realised as I walked up Regent Street in the drizzling rain that “The Gladdy” was the location of the eldest’s art exhibition last year.

The pub has a bit of a Trainspotting vibe, for example, this is the men’s bathroom (sourced from its Facebook page) …

But it’s a great spot for a laidback, fun night out. I’ve loved it on both visits.

We were greeted last night by G Flip themselves on our arrival upstairs. Such a cool and friendly person, who happily met, chatted and posed with everyone.
For those not in the know, G Flip is an Australian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Melbourne.

We sipped Box in cocktails and ate yummy finger food, then watched them perform one of their hit songs, “Worst person alive”.
Loved it.
We were the oldest people in the room by at least 30 years and were thirsty for a chardy after G Flip performed, so we headed downstairs for a quick bevvy that wasn’t an alcoholic fruit juice.
It was trivia night in the main bar, which created a joyful atmosphere there too. But we could hear fabulous music pumping upstairs, so we headed back up for round two.
We were sooooo glad that we did – as we walked into the room the band were playing “Teenaged Dirt Bag”. I asked my new bestie G Flip what the band were called and she said they were Dre And The Giants.

Fabulous. Put them on your see-them-live list.
The band then launched into a mash up of two of my favourite songs – Nirvana’s “Smells like teen spirit” and KISS’s “I was made for loving you”.
Next level awesome. And I loved that G Flip was in the crowd with us, dancing like a dervish.
Brilliant night. Bulkest of fun!
I thoroughly recommend dancing to live music on a Tuesday night to lift your mood.
Song of the day: KISS “I was made for loving you”
