Like the other half

I was invited to the most spectacular event last night, the launch of a tequila called Volcan X.A at a mansion in Lavender Bay.

The event kicked off at 6pm and I went with my friend Sue. We are early birds but decided to meet there at 6.15pm to avoid being the first people through the door.

And what a door it was! Our mouths dropped as we entered the incredible venue and were handed samples of the tequila to sip in Champagne glasses because it’s so fancy.

There was an amazing video installation in the hallway.

Then we jumped into the mansion’s lift to the third floor … which was the fanciest lift ever (check out the floral walls) .. and were blown away.

It was so glam I half expected Leonardo DiCaprio to walk past at any moment.

As for the ultra-premium spirit, it’s a blend of Reposado, Anejo and Extra-Anejo Tequilas. Volcan X.A is unique in that it is made from 100% Blue Agave with absolutely zero additives. It tasted very smooth and aromatic on its own, but we decided it wasn’t sensible to sip too much of it that way and moved onto Margaritas and Palomas.

There were oysters and prawns by the dozen to accompany our cocktails and the view of Sydney Harbour was out of this world!

We’ve both been poorly with viruses recently so we lasted less than two hours at the party before heading off into the night, but it was such a slice of how the other half lives.
