Not again! Sigh

kleenex

I worked from home AGAIN yesterday, because the eldest is sick AGAIN.

Well, maybe she’s still sick from last week.

She wanly said she’d go to school so I could go to the office, but she looked so crook I just couldn’t do it to her.

My boss was very understanding when I messaged her, though she must be tempted to roll her eyes.

It’s VERY difficult to blog when you just sit at home every day at the computer, with a soundtrack of Spongebob Squarepants in the background … because NOTHING happens.

Then, late last night, I got a text from my ex saying the eldest was still poorly and could he drop her at my place at 8.30am this morning.

Sigh. Yes.

Scrap any plans for today.

Fortunately it’s not all snot and misery in my life.

I had a dinner date with some of my old Cosmopolitan magazine mates last night.

So much laughter, reminiscing and catching up over yummy mezze – and a seafood tagine – at Mint Cafe in Surry Hills.

Work … men … lady parts … kids … we covered it all.

I remember going to this shoot with Kylie Minogue. She was TINY - the shorts were size 6 and we had to bulldog clip them at the back!

It’s hard to believe more than 15 years have passed since I first met them. And it’s fascinating the different paths our lives have take since those heady ’90s days.

At 9.23pm, one of the girls announced: “OK, let’s pay the bill so I can go to bed.”

And she’s YOUNGER than me. (I met these gorgeous chicks at the tail end of my nine-year tenure at Cosmo.)

Gotta love a dinner date on my middle-aged timetable.

Oh AND the restaurant let us pay pass each quarter of the bill separately. Loving.

It must be two years since we all last met. And the conversation flowed like it was yesterday.

I love friendships like that, don’t you?
