Pisceans are
On the bright side …
Imaginative and sensitive
Compassionate and kind
Selfless and unworldly
Intuitive and sympathetic
On the dark side….
Escapist and idealistic
Secretive and vague
Weak-willed and easily led
I’m sooooo not your typical Piscean. I mean, I do have dodgy feet, but I hate water. What fish hates water?
Well, I don’t hate it, but swimming isn’t my favourite thing. It might have something to do with only being able to dog paddle 5 metres, despite having endless childhood lessons.
As for all the other hoopy-froody Pisces stuff … idealistic, secretive, weak-willed … nah, that ain’t me! Can’t be idealistic and run a weekly mag … as for secretive … well, you read HouseGoesHome, you know I don’t have any. And being weak-willed wouldn’t have gotten me very far this year. I’m more your strong-willed kinda gal.
But I AM quite the escapist, imaginative soul, which made the last few years of my marriage pretty brutal – my ex stopped wanting to make plans for the future with me … because he was no longer sure we had one.
Of course, I didn’t realise that at the time. I just felt adrift and bereft when every idea I had was squashed. So I stopped having them and the sadness festered. A life without plans is an uncertain and soul-destroying place for me.
It’s been so exciting to be able to plot and scheme again. Latest mad idea: retiring early to a little beach house with a deck that has a bit of a view.
The yearning has been fuelled by spending a few days lounging around on DD’s deck with my feet up on his knee and a glass of wine in my hand. It was so peaceful and relaxing and in-the-moment.
All that was missing was a glimpse of ocean.
OK, maybe I am a bit fishy after all.
I’ve been madly Googling for ideas on how I’d decorate my beach bedroom … and here are some of the treasures I’ve found …
>> Love these kids’ bunk beds from Minimalisti.
>> For sheer wow factor, how about this bedroom with a loft bed designed like a ship from Ranario.
>> I wouldn’t say no to this luxe design from Quality Decoration.
>> I love tongue-and-groove ceilings like the ones in this bedroom on Chic Bedroom Decors.
>> My ultimate beach house would have lots of chambray, like this bedroom from One Cool God.
>> I went through a phase of wanting a Moroccan-style beach house … the bedroom might look a little like the one above from House Beautiful.
>> Now that’s an awesome ceiling, from Amerifirst.
>> There’s something about the granny chic of this bedroom decor that appeals to me, from 86Clover.
>> Loving the oars bedhead from Beacont.
>> One thing I DON’T want is a clam shell bed … but it’s worth a horrified ogle. From Founterior.
>> But I wouldn’t mind a few of these sea urchin pillows from Parker Brown.
>> Also, I’ve discovered you can get shell fairy lights … I love fairy lights … there weren’t nearly enough at my wedding. I wanted the ceiling COVERED in them. All magic and sparkly.
>> And how cool would this beach-style ensuite be? From Gaiff.
Song of the day: Nick Cave “The Ship Song”
Come sail your ships around me
And burn your bridges down
We make a little history, baby
Every time you come around
