The cycle of life played out in Hollywood over the weekend as pregnancy news was shared, new bubs were paraded, an amazing journalist died and a middling actress got married. Here’s the lowdown.
Suri breaks her arm
It’s been confirmed that Suri Cruise has broken her arm. As People magazine notes: “Guess she has more than a little of her dad Tom Cruise’s daredevil spirit.”
It’s not known how the 7-year-old’s injury occurred, but rep for her mum, Katie Holmes, confirmed: “Suri did break her arm, but she is okay.”
Lamar arrested
It’s getting really hard to “keep up” with Lamar Odom.
The basketball player was arrested and charged with a DUI in the San Fernando Valley on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3:54 a.m. after failing numerous sobriety tests, TMZ reports.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Odom “showed objective signs of intoxication” after he was pulled over for driving 50 mph on a freeway with a speed limit of 65 mph. He was taken to Van Nuys Jail where he refused to take all chemical tests. He was released on $15,000 bail.
The bust comes just days after People and TMZ first reported that Odom has been battling a serious drug addiction for two years.
According to TMZ, he went to rehab last August for crack cocaine, but continued using the drug after basketball season ended.
The site also reported that the Keeping Up with The Kardashians star allegedly went missing after his wife of almost four years, Khloe Kardashian, staged an intervention and kicked him out of their home.
“It’s a really hard time for Khloe,” a source told People. “She’s kept this secret for almost two years trying to save Lamar and their marriage.”
Their relationship has also been plagued with infertility issues and cheating scandals.
In July, Star reported that Odom had been cheating on Kardashian with Jennifer Richardson, carrying on a year-long affair with the woman he met at a strip club. A month later, lawyer Polina Polonsky came forward and claimed that she also had an affair with the NBA star.
Back in May, Kardashian put her E! spinoff Khloe and Lamar on hold to work on her marriage and provide support for her husband. “I like to think divorce is not an option,” she told People.
But can Odom’s latest blunder be an exception?
The New York Daily News reports thatKris Jenner has allegedly contacted a divorce laywer because Khloe is “too emotional” to see things clearly. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that — and Odom get the help he needs.
Lena’s family values
Lena Dunham has revealed that her parents are responsible for her positive body image.
The Girls creator told the October issue of Marie Claire UK: “My parents both have really healthy attitudes about their own bodies but also about the range of things that can be beautiful.”
“But they also just always made me feel pretty and cool and smart, even in the moments when I have known – and still know – that my body wasn’t fitting into a traditional Hollywood idea of the female body.”
James Van Der Beek to be a daddy again
Ex-Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek’s wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, is pregnant with the couple’s third child. She announced the happy news on her blog on Friday.
She wrote: “James and I are happy to report that we are expecting our third child this winter! Nesting mode is starting to kick in. I’ve been getting rid of clutter, reconfiguring rooms, reorganizing EVERYTHING, etc…My mind doesn’t stop.”
The couple have been married since 2010 and already parents to two kids, daughter Olivia, 2, and son Joshua, 17 months.
“All the craziness, exhaustion, and moodiness aside, James and I are beyond elated and feeling so incredibly blessed,” Kimberly wrote. “Olivia and Joshua are in on the news and seem to be excited about a baby coming into the family.”
Crappy celebrity neighbours
David Schwimmer has a right to buy an 1850s-era townhouse in New York’s East Village. And he has a right to tear it down, and launch a long-term construction project to build a new townhouse in its place. And his neighbors have a right to hate him for it.
This week, one snide East Village local spray painted the message “Ross is not cool” along the construction barrier surrounding Schwimmer’s home, apparently in protest of the demolition. True, Schwimmer’s Friends character was never really cool. Construction workers quickly painted over the graffiti anyway.
But Schwimmer is not the first celebrity to irritate his neighbors this year. According to their nearby residents…
Justin Bieber endangers kids and dogs with his reckless driving around the neighborhood, according to TMZ. One neighbor told the tabloid that Bieber drives “unbelievably recklessly” through the neighborhood in his Ferrari, without a thought to children playing or people walking their dogs.
Chris Brown‘s giant monster graffiti is giving kids nightmares. The out-sized artwork on his modern home in the Hollywood Hills has parents up in arms. “There are lots of babies, lots of children, and they’re literally frightened,” complained one resident. “It’s like devils on the wall — big scary eyes and big scary teeth, and just the whole vibe is not what we’re used to.”
James Franco doesn’t bother to keep his trash under control. His neighbors have filed formal complaints with the L.A. Housing Department because his in-house film operations have created an enormous amount of trash. And it ends up on What does Robert Frost say about neighbors again? Kate ties the knot
Kate Bosworth has married director Michael Polish. The pair tied the knot on Saturday during an outdoor ceremony at The Ranch at Rock Creek in Philipsburg, Montana.
The actress predicted the ceremony would “not the norm and whisky will be involved.”
The couple met he directed her in Big Sur in 2011.
“I never even dated my husband-to-be,” she told InStyle UK. “He said to me after just a few weeks before we were even together, ‘I’m going to marry you.’ He just knew.”
It’s Michael’s second marriage. He has teenage daughter, Jasper, with make-up artist Jo Strettell.
Shakira’s rock n’ roll bub
Singer Shakira has previously revealed she was influenced by rock bands such as AC/DC as a teen, and she’s attempting to pass her love on to her adorable son, seven-month-old son Milan, if this Instagram shot is any indication.
She captioned the shot: “Rock and roll baby!!”

Jamie’s a hands-on mum
Former Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Siegler has shared a gorgeous photo of herself holding hands with her baby son, just days after his birth.
Beau Kyle was born on August 28.
The first-time mum captioned the Instagram pic: “We hold hands cuz we are bests.”
Cher posts unretouched album image
When 67-year-old Cher tweeted this cover of her new album a few days ago, fans cried “Photoshop” (very, very loudly). So she’s responded by tweeting the “raw” image …
Which lead DListed to snipe: “Without Photoshop, Cher’s face still looks like it’s pulled so tight that if she yawns it’ll snap off her head, fly across the room and stick to the wall.”
Vale David Frost
Iconic TV journalist David Frost has died aboard a cruise ship at age 74.
The British broadcaster was perhaps best known for his interviews with former President Richard Nixon.
He died of a suspected heart attack on Saturday night aboard the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship, where he was due to give a speech. The ship had left the English port of Southampton that day for a 10-day cruise in the Mediterranean.
David was the only person to have interviewed all six British prime ministers serving between 1964 and 2007 and the seven US presidents in office between 1969 and 2008. He also grilled celebrities including everyone from Orson Welles to Muhammad Ali and Clint Eastwood.
