Let me just say right up front that I can’t afford this place … bidding is from $2.4million … but ohhhhhhh, ohhhhhhhh AHHHHHHHH …. it’s property porn with a tickler.

I mean, look at it – just LOOK at it. It’s bloody beautiful.

The agent says: “Occupying 1,571sqm parcel of useable, north facing land on one of Avalon’s most prestigious and iconic streets, this exquisite residence has been newly rebuilt to provide a life of luxury and tranquillity. The home’s level exterior showcases gorgeous Japanese inspired gardens, a “Monet” bridge, a koi pond and a beautiful natural watercourse.

“Finished to a flawless standard throughout, the interiors have been comprehensively updated to showcase a modern coastal aesthetic while still remaining sensitive to the original design of acclaimed American architect Tony Moore. Offered to the market for only the second time ever, this unique property was featured in ‘House & Garden’ magazine in 1959 and again in 1972.”

  1. You have found yourself a house twin. That is the exact style I want, and will probably never be able to afford. I just really love spaces like that. It looks easy to live in, and has an amazing design without feeling like cold ‘designer show homes’. Frankly, I’ll give it another 40 ticks just because of the floorboards, the panelling and the white. It’s also not a Masterton, Clarendon, any other dreary, boring type of house. I’m in LOVE. Maybe I should have studied architecture?

    1. I was about to say maybe you should have because there’s no money in journalism … then I remembered an architect friend telling me there’s no money in that either!

  2. The real estate section is my weekend porn and I spend far too much time poring over it, pointing out fabulous places to my husband… need to wean myself off as I get too dissatisfied and I think my toddler has noticed, “Mummy get a new house?’ she says when I pick her up from daycare. Whoops.
