It might have been a public holiday in Australia, but it was just an ordinary day at the office for the stars … if ordinary means wearing couture and strutting the red carpet …
Another awards night – aren’t the celebs getting tired?
The Screen Actors’ Guild awards were held on Sunday night in Los Angeles. Ben Affleck scored again for Argo, grabbing a statuette for Outstanding Motion Picture Ensemble. Daniel Day Lewis won Outstanding Male Movie Actor for Lincoln. And Jennifer Lawrence won Outstanding Female Movie Actor – struggling out of bed from a bout of pneumonia to accept the award and ripping her Christian Dior couture dress in the process.
Backstage at the awards, Ben Affleck revealed his celebrity crush: “I love Brad Pitt. I think he’s amazing,” the 40-year-old Massachusetts native said. “I love the way he looks, I’m not going to lie! I think he’s awesome. If I could be somebody, it’d definitely be Brad Pitt.”
Here are some celebrity twit pics from the night …
Remember Dharma & Greg? Jenna Elfman is still looking pretty smokin’.
They went home empty handed from the Golden Globes, but Modern Family scored Best Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Modern Family at the SAGS.
And Sofia Vergara was thriled.
Celebs, they’re just like us … Jane Lynch (and some women I don’t recognise) took a happy snap in the ladies room.
Like me, The Huffington Post is wondering how they cope with the constant gadding about at awards nights.
“Award shows are so popular because they are the gladiatorial sport of our day,”GoldDerby.com editor Tom O’Neil told The Huffington Post. “Instead of big ugly lugs duelling to the death in the arena, we cast our gorgeous pop culture icons, dressed in formal finery, and let them hack away at each other for our amusement.”
And ratings for the telecasts – in the US at least – are going through the roof. This year’s Golden Globes ceremony on NBC was the highest-rated broadcast since 2007.

Lindsay slammed by porn star
Lindsay Lohan‘s The Canyons co-star porn actor James Deen has gone to town on her childish behaviour on set.
“There were days when she would scream and yell and cry and refuse to come out,” he’s told The Sun.”In porn I am used to working with professionals who are courteous to others. But Lindsay was like a child lashing out.”
One scene in particular – a naked, four-way sex scene – was particularly difficult.
“We were all standing round naked and the next thing Lindsay was screaming, ‘Put your clothes on. For the love of God put your clothes on,'” he told The Sun. “So we all put our robes on. But then she sat on the bed topless. When I asked her why she said she was ‘allowed to.’ With that I dropped my towel and she stormed off set. She then refused to return until the entire crew stripped.”
