Wading through the murk so you don’t have to …

Jen and Justin ENGAGED!

Take that Brad and Ange with your phantom wedding plans …

Justin Theroux had an amazing birthday on Friday, receiving an extraordinary gift when his girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston, accepted his proposal of marriage,” his rep has informed People magazine, just in time for the couple to score all the celebrity magazine covers in the US, which go to press tomorrowish.

Jen, 43, and Justin, 41, have been dating for more than a year. Funny, it feels like forever.

The Mag I Bought This Week Award goes to …

I dragged myself away from the Olympics closing ceremony coverage this morning and trudged to the newsagent to check out what the mags had on offer this week … and I couldn’t decide whether I’d have been better off staying on the couch. Until I spotted …

Jason turns vampire?

Fancy a few True Blood spoilers? The actress who plays vampire Jessica, Deborah Ann Woll, had this to say to Entertainment Weekly:

HER LOVE TRIANGLE WITH HOYT AND JASON: “I think we’ll finally see them sit down and hash it out a bit. She deeply cares about Hoyt. But with Jason, there’s such a strong chemistry there, and they understand each other, each other’s darkness.”

BILL’S NEW LIFESTYLE WITH THE AUTHORITY: “Jessica already had experience with extreme religion and it did not go well for her. She has her own opinion of how vampires and humans should interact. I’m not sure she and Bill will agree.”

JASON POTENTIALLY BECOMING A VAMPIRE: “I can’t believe they let that image out (of Jason in what appears to be the womb stage of vampirism)! Well, Jason is very pale [in the grave] and Jessica is lying beside him so…”

THE SEASON FINALE: “There’s going to be more questions than answers. It’s definitely the bloodiest one yet. And I think it’s the best cliffhanger we’ve ever done.”

Monkey scores $12,000-an-episode TV gig

Remember Crystal the Monkey from The Hangover 2? She has a $12,000-an-episode role on a new comedy series, Animal Practice, which premiered in the United States last night.

Crystal plays Dr Rizzo, the monkey sidekick to the lead veterinarian character, Dr George Coleman (Justin Kirk).

Crystal brings plenty of experience to the part, aside from The Hangover II, she’s starred in the Night at the Museum sequel, We Bought a Zoo, Dr Doolittle and Community.

David and Gillian itching to do another X-Files

“I would love to do another film, or more,” David Duchovny told Collider last week. “I think we’re all game for it.”

“I’m kind of perplexed that Fox isn’t more [enthusiastic] … You’ve got an actual action franchise that’s your own … Why not make a homegrown franchise that is excellent, and that has proven to be excellent and interesting? I don’t get it, but that’s not my business.”

“One of the greatnesses of the show was its open-endedness. It was about possibility. It wasn’t about closure. There is no such thing as that story ever ending. Those characters are forever searching … Mulder and Scully are still doing their thing ’cause that’s their nature.”

Gillian Anderson is keen too: “I don’t see any reason not to do it if the script is good and Fox wants to go ahead and put the money behind it,” she told The Daily Beast.

That’ll have the rumour mill about the sexy pair going into overdrive all over again …
