Easing into it

I’ve decided that spending a few hours with DD twice a week isn’t enough.

So I am going to work from his place one day each week.

I did a test run yesterday and it was lovely.

On Sunday afternoon we read the papers together, watched a few travel videos on YouTube and went to the pub for dinner.

The travel videos inspired us to book a destination birthday weekend for DD that is SO exciting, I am a bit beside myself about it.

It’s on an island where the best restaurant has an inn attached to it. We booked two nights at the inn, then discovered there were no tables available at the restaurant. Eeeeek. But I emailed the owners and asked if they could squeeze us in because we are staying there. Hurrah, a booking came through for 7pm on his birthday.

I am so stoked.

Back in the real world, I walked the dogs to a local coffee shop on Monday morning and brought back a strong flat white for DD.

Then I spent the next few hours working at the dining table while he worked at his desk.

At lunchtime we walked the dogs down to the local Thai place for some Singapore noodles. Then we wandered back home and worked for the rest of afternoon.

At 6pm DD helped me pack the car and I headed back to my other life.

We will do it all over again next Monday because I need to get my car serviced on the Northern Beaches and he will collect me after I drop it off.

I love DD’s neck of the woods and I am keen to spend more time there as a local rather than just an occasional visitor.

The dream would be to live side by side in separate duplexes or apartments, so we can have our own space but still be close to each other.

But that’s a long way off and won’t be an easy dream to fulfill. I’ve been a pretty obsessive domain.con.au fan over the years and I don’t remember that sort of listing coming up too often.

We will see.

Oh and the dogs LOOOOOOVED their sleepover in the main bathroom at DD’s because he put the underfloor heating on. Happy puppies!
