You’re up to date

As per usual, a lot has happened since I last talked at you.

DD got his new car …

I went to the launch of a gin called Gilded Chaos at QT Sydney with a friend.

QT Sydney is very glamorous and fabulous.

The bar served us deconstructed Martinis and insanely delicious nibbles including scallop dumplings.

However, as much as I WANT to like Martinis because they seem so sophisticated, they just taste like upmarket metho to me … or what I imagine upmarket metho would taste like.

I am so uncouth.

However, I thought the Gilded Chaos gin and tonics were very delicious.

Gilded Chaos is a savoury gin, which is very on trend right now. It has been created by Four Pillars for QT and contains unique ingredients such as vetiver, a rare plant that brings savoury and earthy notes to the spirit, and wild fennel, brightened by the citrus of lemon leaves.

The next night, I had a drink at the most fabulous bar with a friend who I haven’t seen since the last lockdown. The bar is walking distance from my apartment. It’s called Foxtrot and it has an OPEN FIREPLACE.

Heaven.

I was pretty flattened by three nights of jack hammering, but it was nice and dark in the bar so you couldn’t see my bloodshot eyes …

We ate the most delicious french fries that had been spritzed with vinegar and sipped cocktails and caught up on about half our news, so we need to see each other again to catch up on the other half.

I am still recovering from my UTI and had to wee behind a bush on the way home because I’d misjudged the fullness of my bladder.

It gave me serious flashbacks to one of my most infamous blog posts, The Wee Tree.

When I told DD about the emergency bush incident he said: “That wasn’t in your profile.”

And I replied: “Oh yes, it was.”

The eldest and I got letters from the NSW Government accusing us of not voting in the election and demanding payment for our failure.

That was odd considering we both voted at the church around the corner. So I need to have a stoush about that.

On Saturday I went for a lovely long walk around the harbour foreshore that didn’t involve weeing behind any bushes, then I went and got my hair cut in the afternoon.

I always feel so much younger when I get the chop and I always think I look so much younger … until I take a selfie.

On Sunday morning I woke up at 6.30am, took the dogs for a walk, got home and suddenly started vomiting. I have no idea why. But the rest of Sunday passed in a haze of nausea and misery until DD bought me a Vietnamese chicken soup for my dinner, which made me feel much better.

I was still knackered from three nights of jackhammering, so you can imagine my joy when I saw THIS …

Yep, that’s roadworks unfolding AGAIN outside my apartment. They dropped their metal shovels on the concrete with a clatter and packed up their jackhammers at 5am.

Poor me and the hundreds of people who live around me.

And now it’s Monday. Let’s see how my stomach holds up this morning.

Hope you had a good weekend.

Song of the day: Peter Gabriel “Sledgehammer”
