Life in a Pink Fibro wrote a great blog yesterday called 10 Things I Learned Last Week and I take my hat off her, because my week was more about what I didn't learn. Hopefully it means I will eventually learn, but knowing me, probably not. Pink Fibro learned stuff like: "When comics and real life collide,... Continue Reading →
HouseGoesHollywood: The Mag I Bought This Week winner, “Aston’s a dick” and more!
THE MAG I BOUGHT THIS WEEK AWARD GOES TO ... The celebrity mags have put Tom Cruise's sperm under the microscope this week. Yep, they're in a complete tizz (again) about whether Suri needs a paternity test. To avoid sticky legal complications, the mags are using phrases like "Outrage over Suri DNA bombshell" (New Idea), "Slurs over Suri's real dad"... Continue Reading →
Happiness is a weed bouquet
I visited Pollyworld yesterday. It wasn't such a bad place. Me and the Sprogs took the Polly Pockets on a beach holiday. They lazed about on hammocks on the Polly boat, drinking plastic cocktails and contemplating their next wardrobe change. There was lots of plastic pizza and ice-cream. It was pretty cool. I'd quite enjoy a holiday like that myself. Before I even considered huddling... Continue Reading →
Nancy no-fun
It's been one of those weeks. A pouty, moochy sort of week. Not attractive on a 44-year-old. I feel all out of sorts and miz. When a friend texted a few minutes ago to say thank you for a lovely Christmas in July last night, I texted back apologising for the food being "up and down".... Continue Reading →
Ultimate discomfort food
What's not to like about chicken and leek risotto? Garlic, leeks, white wine, chicken stock, arborio rice, chicken, parmesan ... Mmmmmm. I've been making risotto for 20 years - aside from a recent five-year gap during my well-publicised carb intolerance - because I love how it makes a little meat go a long way, most of the ingredients can... Merry Christmas (in July!)
OK, things are just slightly crazy around here right now. I've made the Christmas cake strudel (yes, as weird as it sounds), I've made the silverbeet gratin, I've made the baked brie in a pastry shell with walnut praline, and I've decorated the reindeer cupcakes - above - do you think they're cute? I got... Continue Reading →
Let’s talk about me, me, me
Visiting a new medically-type person is like therapy for me. I can moan about my ills without feeling guilty about boring them, because I'm paying them handsomely to listen. I went to an osteopath for the first time yesterday. As previously mentioned in a HouseGoesHollywood blog post, I slipped while holding a (live) chook in each hand. I... Continue Reading →
HouseGoesHollywood: Triple-boobed hookers, Lindsay in bed with porn star, no more Jimmy Choos for Suri
Just a quickie today. I slipped on a wet floor with a live chicken in each hand (yes, really; the osteo had never heard that one before either) and hurt my back, so I'm off to get fixed up. I hope. I really want to do a 9am pump class tomorrow ... I'm dreaming, right? ... Continue Reading →
Happy belated birthday
My birthday was back in March but I feel like I'm turning 44 all over again this week. Hurrah. First, my sister took me out for a birthday dinner on Wednesday night. We've been trying to schedule it for months, but life - and school holidays - kept getting in the way. She'd bought one of... Continue Reading →
HouseGoesHollywood: Suri in high-speed chase, Brooke’s viriginity, float Johnny’s boat
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER SCIENTOLOGY SCANDAL ... OR 3 Let's start with the TomKat (just the way I like it) ... Suri Cruise will get a serious car phobia if her parents aren't careful. According to the New York Daily News, Tom Cruise could be questioned by police over his role in a high-speed car chase after the actor and his 6-year-old... Continue Reading →
