Another trip down memory lane. Three years ago this week, we were packing to return to Australia after 10 months in New York. Husband's scholarship to university had run out and we couldn't afford to stay on. Looking back, the things that stick in my mind were our local Thai restaurant, Thai Market, the Hungarian Pastry Shop and... Continue Reading →
It’s the end of the world as we know it
I thought the world was ending when a plane had crashed into the World Trade Centre. I was on the step-machine in my Singapore condo's gym, an ashen-faced security guard tottered over and broke the news. I ran upstairs to wake Husband, terrified it meant World War 3. I feared for humanity again yesterday when I read that a bloke's arm was partially... Continue Reading →
Snap happy
Yay, all my holiday blog posts now have photos. Check 'em out: April 24 to 30. Here are two extra ones here to give you a feel for Waikiki.
Homework sucks
I made a promise to myself in high school: do well in the HSC and you never have to study again. I buckled down and spent months memorising modern history facts and opinions, ancient history facts and opinions, art history facts and opinions, literary facts and opinions ... I ditched science a few years earlier and had enough... Continue Reading →
The Mag I Bought This Week Award (30/4/12) goes to …
When the editor of Woman's Day magazine ran a cover story about Lisa Curry's marriage breakdown a few years back, I thought she was bonkers, troppo, crazy, out of her tree, off her trolley, nuts* ... I was wrong. It went gangbusters. Readers LOVED it. (In a totally supportive, poor Lisa way, of course ...) I was stunned. Lisa... Continue Reading →
Post-holiday depression
I am feeling bleeeeeeaakkk. Very bleeeaaaaak. Reality is biting. I am back in the real world and I have no focus. I go to the gym, I take the Sprogs to school, I fiddle on my blog. But is that enough? Is that all life is about? Shouldn't there be something more? You know, making the world a better place, helping others, doing something meaningful ... ohhhh,... Plane terrified
I hate plane travel. I hate it sooooo much. I wanted to write a blog about hating it while I was actually in the air, flying back to Oz. You know, capture the horror while trapped in the depths of hell. But I was scared that typing the words might jinx things, make the plane crash. Instead,... Continue Reading →

Cruisy photos
Husband had a five-minute fiddle on the iPad this arvo and discovered you CAN upload photographs to the blog if you have the special WordPress app for it ... right, ok. That would have been soooo handy to know/have pre-cruise. Oh well. That's what I get for being totally inept with technical stuff. Days 1... Continue Reading →
I’ve seen the future and it sucks
Hawaiian Airlines has removed check-in counters at Honolulu Airport. Instead, you do it yourself at futuristic computer hubs. This is supposed to improve efficiency, but I'm thinking it just improves their bottom line. It certainly wasn't very efficient for us. Husband had a return ticket, but me and the Sprogs only had one-ways, so we... Continue Reading →
